Senator McCaskill has been a constant critic of President Trump’s foreign policy and diplomatic experience. She stated her concerns about the president’s lack of experience on the world stage on ABC’s “This Week” last December.
McCaskill was shown to be wrong once again as President Trump secured the release of three American prisoners held hostage in North Korea earlier this week. This move has been hailed by many as a huge diplomatic win for the U.S.
McCASKILL: “And I think it’s one of those things that, for someone who has worked around the world for profit, it is different than working around the world to make sure we have strong alliances and to make sure that we are in the strongest position to protect our country. And I worry about the lack of experience that he has had on the diplomatic front and, frankly, I think that’s true for many of the appointments to Trump’s cabinet.”
