FLASHBACK: McCaskill Defends Clinton’s “Deplorable” Comment

In a recent interview with MSNBC, Claire McCaskill continued to try to distance herself from recent comments by failed presidential nominee Hillary Clinton insulting voters in states like Missouri who voted against her in 2016 as “backwards.” But despite her latest Election-Year effort to run away from an unpopular Hillary Clinton, just a year and a half ago McCaskill defended Hillary’s now-infamous statement calling Trump supporters a racist and bigoted “basket of deplorables,” calling it “a valid point” and stating that Trump’s “message is we need to punch the Mexicans and the Muslims in the nose”:

“But the point she made was a valid point,” McCaskill continued. Trump “is not inspirational about how great we are in this country and how wonderful it is that we are different, and look different, that we have freedom of religion and that we should accept all people and all kinds. That is not his message. His message is we need to punch the Mexicans and the Muslims in the nose.”

Now that she is “the most vulnerable Democratic senator,” McCaskill obviously needs to try and distance herself from Clinton’s insults against Middle America. But her history of siding with National Democrats like Hillary Clinton against her own constituents is clear, as she did earlier this month on MSNBC by dismissing Missouri Trump supporters as “cynical”:
