On NBC’s Meet The Press yesterday, Attorney General Josh Hawley explained why the contentious Kavanaugh confirmation process is motivating many Missourians:
HAWLEY: “I do think the debacle with Justice Kavanaugh, what the Senate Democrats did in that case is hugely motivating to Missouri voters. They cannot believe the conduct of these Senate Democrats. They can’t believe the smear campaign that they launched, and by the way how they drug Dr. Ford through the mud, as well, and now this mob behavior we are seeing all over the country, it is motivating folks.”
Hawley further explained this point in an interview with National Journal:
“When Trump nominated Judge Kavanaugh, they knew vaguely who he was, they were vaguely supportive. If you said what’s his name again, they couldn’t tell you. Now they know him, they know his wife, they know his daughters, so many people watched the hearings,” Hawley said in an interview at his campaign headquarters. “They are furious about the disgraceful behavior of the U.S. Senate and some Democrats. They’re furious that Judge Kavanaugh was smeared like this, that his wife and daughters had to go through this.”
Missouri voters recognize that Claire McCaskill no longer represents their values in D.C. Her vote against Justice Kavanaugh highlights that she is out-of-touch with voters across the state and is far too liberal to continue to represent Missouri in the U.S. Senate.
