This morning President Donald Trump unveiled his proposal to improve American infrastructure including upgrades to roads, airports and other public works. While Claire McCaskill has been silent since the President announced his plan, last year she indicated that she wanted to find a solution to infrastructure, stating:
“Our roads and bridges are crumbling and it’s time we fix them. President Trump was crystal clear in his campaign that rebuilding our country’s infrastructure was a top priority, and I stand ready and willing to work with him to achieve that goal.”
An infrastructure deal has long been a goal of McCaskill, stating in 2015 that she “look[ed] forward to working with [her] colleagues on both sides of the aisle” to get a long-term agreement on highway funding.
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has already come out against the plan. So the question is: Will Senator Claire McCaskill join the Democrats’ liberal D.C. leadership or will she stand with Missourians and work to improve our nation’s infrastructure?
