Claire McCaskill claims she is opposing Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court because she is against dark money, yet her campaign is one of the biggest beneficiaries from outside groups. As the St. Louis Post-Dispatch pointed out “millions of dollars are pouring into the state on her behalf.”
McCaskill has repeatedly been caught aiding third party groups with messaging and content. As the Kansas City Star reported this week:
“Footage and talking points posted to McCaskill’s website have repeatedly ended up in ads paid for by outside groups. Last week, Majority Forward, a group with ties to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, launched a new ad campaign attacking Hawley for climbing the political ladder in nearly identical terms to material posted to McCaskill’s website four days earlier.”
This isn’t her first go around with helping dark money groups. Her deep ties have been well documented over the course of her re-election campaign.
Kansas City Star: If we should ignore outside groups’ ads, why is McCaskill campaign video in this ad?
Politico: “Democrats dodge campaign finance law”
Townhall put it best: “Just be honest, Claire. You’re falling in line with the rest of your party because you don’t like Kavanaugh. Enough with the dark money nonsense; everyone can see it’s a BS reason. “
