Yesterday, the Springfield-based bank Great Southern Bancorp, Inc. announced that they were going to be giving their employees bonuses, all because of the new Republican tax reform law. Awkwardly, Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) refused to comment on the great news for Missourians:
“A spokeswoman for McCaskill said the Missouri Democrat would not comment on Great Southern’s bonuses and referred the News-Leader to a November statement she made.”
Senator McCaskill’s deafening silence will be harder to maintain now that the tax reform-related bonuses from Great Southern Bancorp are getting more media attention. Both KOZL-Springfield and ABC-Springfield covered the news last night:
This coverage combined with Senator McCaskill’s refusal to acknowledge the positive impact already of tax reform exposes the fact that for Senator McCaskill, her liberal politics will always come before what’s best for Missouri voters.
