Two years ago today, one of Claire McCaskill’s closest political allies, Hillary Clinton, came to Missouri as a part of the 2016 Democratic Party Presidential Primary. McCaskill was one of the first U.S. Senators to support Clinton’s 2016 campaign, endorsing her all the way back in 2013.
Clinton went on to win the 2016 Democratic Party Presidential Primary in Missouri by only 1,574 votes (0.2%) over Bernie Sanders. Later that year, McCaskill would read the vote count allotting the majority of Missouri’s delegates to her friend, Hillary Clinton:
“The great Show Me State, the home of Harry Truman, and the proud alma mater of Tim Kaine, the University of Missouri…a state that while closely decided our primary now is united in our determination to change this country. We proudly cast 35 voted for Bernie Sanders and 49 votes–including the youngest Hillary delegate, 17 year old Rachel Gonzalez–for the first woman president in the United States of America, Hillary Clinton.”
