On this day in 2012, McCaskill penned a letter to President Obama that she fully supported his efforts in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations:
“As your Administration contributes to participating in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations, a broad array of important trade policies are being discussed with partner nations in the Pacific.”
“I applaud the efforts you and your Administration are making to advance our nation’s economic interests as part of the negotiations on the TPP.”
Exiting the flawed trade deal was a cornerstone of President Trump’s campaign and was one of the first moves he made once he took office. McCaskill’s support of the TPP shows that she is out-of-touch with Missouri voters and is a roadblock to the President’s economic priorities of creating jobs here in the U.S.
