Two years ago today, Hillary Clinton won the 2016 Democratic Presidential Primary in Missouri by only 1,574 votes (0.2%) over Bernie Sanders thanks to the help of Claire McCaskill, one of the first U.S. Senators to endorse the Clinton campaign. McCaskill went on to read the Missouri delegate totals for her friend Hillary at the 2016 Democratic National Convention:

“The great Show Me State, the home of Harry Truman, and the proud alma mater of Tim Kaine, the University of Missouri…a state that while closely decided our primary now is united in our determination to change this country. We proudly cast 35 voted for Bernie Sanders and 49 votes–including the youngest Hillary delegate, 17 year old Rachel Gonzalez–for the first woman president in the United States of America, Hillary Clinton.”

Clinton has recently come under fire for calling those who voted against her as “backward.” During the 2016 Presidential election, McCaskill defended similar comments made by Clinton that characterized the large portion of Missourians that supported President Trump as “deplorables” and recently expressed her own contempt for those who voted against Hillary:
